Star Gazer

Hello Friends,

There is something incredibly satisfying about turning a collection of fabric scraps into something fresh and beautiful, and this quilt is a perfect example of that.

My friend Alison gathered an assortment of blue fabric scraps, ranging from soft sky blues to rich navy tones, and transformed them into a striking star design set against a crisp white background. Each strip brings its own personality, creating wonderful depth and texture while proving that even the smallest pieces of fabric can become part of something extraordinary.

The bright white background allows the blue stars to shine, giving the quilt a clean, modern feel while still celebrating the charm and variety that only a scrap quilt can offer. Looking closely, you’ll discover delightful little prints hidden throughout the blocks, making every section a new treasure to explore.

For the quilting, I wanted to complement Alison’s beautiful piecing without taking away from the design. Soft flowing curves paired with geometric lines add texture and movement, enhancing each star and giving the quilt a lovely dimensional finish. The quilting catches the light beautifully, adding interest while allowing the pieced blocks to remain the stars of the show.

One of my favorite things about quilting is seeing how scraps that might otherwise sit unused can be transformed into something timeless. Alison’s creativity and careful fabric choices have resulted in a quilt that feels both fresh and comforting—a wonderful reminder that beauty often comes from the simplest beginnings.

Thank you, Alison, for trusting me to finish this beautiful quilt. It was a joy to add the final details of quilting and watch your gorgeous blue stars come to life.

Until next time “Have a Sew Happy Day”

Jenn.
