Every now and then a quilt arrives that instantly brightens the studio, and this beautiful quilt by Karrie did exactly that.
Centered around a stunning watercolor-style wildflower panel, this quilt feels like a peaceful stroll through a summer meadow. Soft daisies, cheerful coneflowers, delicate blue blossoms, and vibrant wildflowers create a bouquet that is full of life and color.
To complement the floral centerpiece, Karrie pieced a playful border using an array of coordinating floral prints. Each fabric brings its own personality while blending beautifully with the others. The rich batik greens give the quilt the feeling of fresh garden foliage, while the pops of yellow framing add just the right touch of sunshine to tie everything together.
When it came time to quilt this beauty, I wanted the stitching to enhance the gentle watercolor feel rather than compete with it. Soft swirls, flowing curves, and delicate pebble textures create movement across the background, giving the flowers the illusion of dancing in a light summer breeze. The quilting adds wonderful texture while allowing the gorgeous fabrics and floral artwork to remain the focal point.
The soft yellow backing was the perfect finishing touch, showcasing the quilting design from edge to edge and creating a quilt that’s just as beautiful on the back as it is on the front.
Thank you, Karrie, for trusting me to longarm this gorgeous quilt. It was such a joy to bring this cheerful garden to life with quilting, and I hope it brings warmth, comfort, and smiles for years to come.
I hope you have a “Sew Happy Day”
Jenn.
