Victorian Manor

Hello Friends,

Some quilts immediately tell a story the moment they come off the frame, and this one absolutely did.

My friend Linda created this beautiful quilt top as a gift for her sister, and it was such an honor to add the finishing touches. From the first moment I loaded it onto my frame, I fell in love with the richness of the French General fabrics and the warmth they brought to the entire design.

The deep navy background paired with the reds and soft blush tones gives this quilt such a timeless, elegant feel. Every block draws your eye inward, while the floral prints create movement and softness throughout the quilt.

For the quilting, I used Glide thread in a soft cream color. I wanted the quilting to enhance the piecing without overpowering it, and the cream thread created the perfect amount of contrast and texture across both the light and dark fabrics.

This quilt was quilted using a combination of freehand longarm quilting techniques. I incorporated flowing feathers throughout the outer borders along with custom quilting motifs in the center sections to complement the geometry and movement of the piecing. One of my favorite parts was watching the texture slowly come alive as each section was stitched.

The backing especially shows off all the quilting detail beautifully — one of those satisfying moments every longarm quilter loves seeing when the light hits the stitching just right.

What I love most about quilts like this is knowing they’re more than fabric and thread. They become part of family history. Linda stitched this quilt with love for her sister, and I’m grateful I got to play a small role in helping bring her vision to life.

These are the kinds of projects that remind me why I love longarm quilting so much — the creativity, the texture, the quiet hours at the machine, and most of all, helping create something meaningful that will be treasured for years to come.

Thank you, Linda, for trusting me with such a special quilt.

Until next time “Have a Sew Happy Day”

Jenn.
