There’s something I love about having two completely different quilts come into the studio—especially when they were both created by the same talented quilter!
These two beauties were pieced by Lorene, and each one has a personality all its own.
The first quilt is a Missouri Star Quilt Co. pattern, and there is so much to look at in this one!
Lorene combined beautiful shades of teal, aqua, orange, yellow and soft neutrals with a charcoal gray background that really allows each block to shine. I love the mixture of star blocks and hourglass-style blocks and how your eye travels from one fabric to the next.
And that teal floral border is the perfect finishing touch! It pulls the colors from the center of the quilt together beautifully while giving the whole quilt a wonderful frame.
This is one of those quilts where you notice something new every time you look at it—the different prints, the tiny details in the fabrics, and all those cheerful pops of color.
So Cute!
Lorene’s second quilt has an entirely different feel.
The gorgeous batiks range from deep burgundy and plum to pink, rust, brown and touches of forest green, all set against a light background. The contrast creates such a striking geometric design.
I especially love the way the blocks seem to twist, turn and weave through one another. Your eye just keeps moving across the quilt!
The deep burgundy outer border grounds all of those beautiful batik colors and gives the quilt such a rich, warm finish.
One of my favorite parts of longarm quilting is seeing the incredible variety of quilts that come through my studio. Two quilts can be made by the same quilter and yet tell completely different stories through their patterns and fabric choices.
Beautiful work, Lorene! It was such a pleasure having both of these quilts in my studio and adding the finishing stitches to two very special creations. 🧵❤️
